About

The darkest mythology in Europe has remained hidden for centuries. While Greek gods and Norse legends conquered Hollywood, Slavic folklore stayed locked behind language and tradition.

Dark Slavic Lore reveals authentic stories of ancient gods, terrifying forest spirits, and forgotten rituals — based on original Slavic folklore texts, historical research, and cultural insight rarely seen outside Eastern Europe.

No Hollywood Distortion

Every story we tell comes from primary sources: the Povest' vremennykh let (Primary Chronicle), ethnographic collections by Alexander Afanasyev, and field research by folklorists across Russia, Ukraine, Poland, and the Balkans.

We don't romanticize. We don't sanitize. We tell the myths as they were told around fires in villages that no longer exist.

The Channel

Dark Slavic Lore started as a YouTube channel bringing these forgotten stories to an English-speaking audience. The response was immediate — people were hungry for mythology that wasn't Greek or Norse.

This website expands on those video essays with deeper articles, primary source citations, and connections between myths that a 10-minute video can't capture.
